Safe Flight AutoPower®, Automatic Throttle System, Selected for the Bombardier Challenger 3500 aircraft

White Plains, New York (Tuesday, October 12, 2021) — Safe Flight Instrument, LLC of White Plains, NY announced today that AutoPower® Automatic Throttle System (ATS), will be standard on the Bombardier Challenger 3500 aircraft. The system was selected in part based on Safe Flight’s proven experience in developing and delivering over 10,000 automatic throttle systems.

“We are delighted by Bombardier’s decision to make the AutoPower® ATS standard on the Challenger 3500 flight deck”, stated Ken Bannon, Safe Flight’s Director, Commercial & Corporate Aviation. The system builds on the successful collaboration between Bombardier and Safe Flight’s previous certified programs including the Challenger 650 aircraft. Initial production deliveries and entry into service is expected by the second half of 2022.

“We are thrilled with the enhanced cockpit experience Safe Flight’s system brings to our newly launched Challenger 3500 aircraft,” said Peter Likoray, Senior Vice President, Sales, Bombardier. “In addition to the enhanced cockpit, customers can expect all the best-selling elements of the Challenger platform – impressive performance, consistent reliability, exceptional smooth ride – all while elevating the cabin experience to a new standard in the category.”

Safe Flight AutoPower® Automatic Throttle System on the Challenger 3500 aircraft greatly extends the capability of the Flight Guidance and Automatic Flight Control systems, providing more accurate, responsive, and dependable speed and thrust management from Takeoff to Touchdown reducing crew workload, enhancing flight safety, situational awareness, and efficiency in challenging conditions. The AutoPower® ATS achieves this through seamless integration with the PFD/MFD’s envelope protection, its ability to use planned VNAV/Speed profiles from the FMS, and continued system availability in single-engine operation or other emergency situations.
